As the founder of the first network university in China, the School of Continuing Education of Renmin University of China actively responds to the national strategic needs to build a learning society and a learning country with lifelong education for all. With the mission of “gathering high-quality online resources and serving lifelong learning”, it devotes itself to providing online education and training services for the vast number of incumbent employees. In recent years, with the goal of building a lifelong learning system in the new era, the School of Continuing Education of RUC has constantly strived to highlight the characteristics and disciplinary strengths of humanities social sciences at RUC，which are integral to China’s original knowledge system，thereby serving the continuing education of professionals and lifelong learning for all. The online lifelong learning platform system of RUC in the new era integrates portal website, WeChat official account and Xiaoetong Knowledge Shop, presenting multi-dimensional and supermarket-type characteristics, providing convenient “one-stop” online lifelong learning media services for members of society.

“Studying at RUC” lifelong learning platform

The “Studying at RUC” lifelong learning platform (https://exue.ruc.edu.cn/) has been established by the School of Continuing Education to align with the contemporary trends in online education and training. Harnessing the academic and faculty resources of RUC, this platform caters to the training needs of party, government, and corporate entities, the ongoing education of professional and technical personnel, and the broader community’s pursuit of lifelong learning. Distinguished by its comprehensive features, diverse business models, and versatility in adapting to various learning scenarios, the platform also provides support for multimedia content and access across multiple devices, all of which are designed to provide a seamless and engaging learning experience.

The 'Studying at RUC' platform is meticulously designed to integrate a suite of subsystems, which includes a centralized user hub, content management and dissemination, training coordination, personalized learning environments, interactive learning tools, a rewards-based learning points system, dedicated course interfaces, and mobile access capabilities.

Learning Resources:

Lectures by distinguished professors from RUC cover a wide range of subjects including the leadership of the Party, Party building, policy interpretation, media communication, public management, enterprise management, archives management, international affairs, curriculum ideology and political education, pedagogy, marketing, mental health, fiscal and financial policies, accounting, professional skills, human resources, laws and regulations, economic management, information technology, Chinese culture, etc. All these courses are designed to bolster the lifelong educational mission of Renmin University of China in the information age, fulfilling the social service role of higher education.

Teaching Modes:

- Online Learning: Leveraging specialized recorded content, commissioned courses, and social dissemination training online courses, as well as the finest online course resources from across the university's disciplines, we employ state-of-the-art digital teaching methods and virtual classroom technologies. This creates a flexible and accessible 'knowledge shop' for incumbent employees，including technical staff，which enables them to engage in online learning at their convenience.

- Live Streaming Training: Building upon the foundation of national cadre training centers, we offer core curricula focused on the innovative theories of the Party, including China's development path, governance strategies, and philosophical principles. Our aim is to cultivate a new generation of governance talent for Chinese path to modernization by constructing highly qualified grass-roots cadre team.
