On a sunny autumn afternoon, alumni of RUC gathered at Huixian Building for a unique and elegant wine appreciation event. It was an afternoon filled with art, life, and love, where wine became the bridge connecting the guests to the captivating world of wine culture and etiquette.

A Fun Introduction to Wine Culture

To deepen the understanding of wine among the participants, Dr. Li Zhongcheng, a RUC alumnus and Bordeaux University PhD graduate, led an engaging session. His presentation explored the nuances of wine classifications and vintage recognition, guiding attendees through a professional four-step method of wine tasting. Dr. Li also shared practical tips for selecting wines confidently in formal settings, particularly in Western dining environments. The alumni immersed themselves in his storytelling, discovering the rich heritage and complexity of wine culture.

Savoring the Experience

During the tasting session, participants compared various wines by examining their color, aroma, and taste. The atmosphere buzzed with enthusiasm as guests exchanged insights, savoring every moment. The event featured an exquisite selection of wines, including Champagne, Lafite Rothschild, and Château Cantegril sweet white wine. Each glass offered a dialogue with nature and time, transforming simple sips into poetic expressions of life. As the glasses clinked, it wasn’t just about wine—it was about toasting to the beauty of life.
