The closing ceremony of the 2023 Taiwan Youth Study Camp in Beijing was successfully held

On October 29, 2023, the closing ceremony of the Taiwan Youth Study Camp in Beijing was held at Renmin University of China. Yang Jinbai, member of the Beijing Municipal Party Committee and Minister of the United Front Work Department, Lin Shangli, President of Renmin University of China, Huang Wentao, Director of the Exchange Bureau of the Central Taiwan Affairs Office, Huo Guangfeng, Director of the Beijing Taiwan Affairs Office, and Zhang Lei, Deputy Director, attended the ceremony. Also present were Qi Pengfei, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, and Ye Kangtao, Vice President of Renmin University of China. The ceremony was chaired by Zheng Xinye, Vice President of Renmin University of China.

Lin Shangli expressed that achieving the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation is the greatest dream of the Chinese nation in modern times. Chinese modernization provides vast space for growth and valuable opportunities for all young people in China. Cross-strait youth are crucial driving forces for developing cross-strait relations and achieving the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. He hopes that outstanding young people from Taiwan, through this study camp, can learn about the distinctive features and significant advantages of Chinese modernization. Lin encourages them to contemplate Taiwan's position and role in the national rejuvenation and to dream, build dreams, and fulfill dreams in the process of participating in Chinese modernization.

Lin Shangli stated that as a university that stands out in the field of humanities and social sciences in China, Renmin University of China is committed to constructing an independent knowledge system in China, promoting philosophy with Chinese characteristics and social sciences with Chinese characteristics to outstand in the global grove of academe and supporting Chinese modernization with the development of high-quality education. RUC will create more opportunities for cross-strait youth to exchange and interact, vigorously promote cross-strait cultural exchange and cooperation, and drive the creative transformation and innovative development of outstanding traditional Chinese culture. Lin anticipates that youth on both sides of the strait will collaborate for mutual development, shoulder responsibilities together, share achievements, and jointly create the future.

Yang Jinbai expressed that the Chinese path to modernization has created a new form of human civilization, providing a Chinese solution to the exploration of better social systems. With the deepening development of modernization and human civilization, the theory of Chinese modernization will increasingly demonstrate its unique value in the era.

Yang Jinbai stated that the prosperity and development of the mainland and the the capital in the new era provides abundent opportunities for Taiwanese youth to study, work, start businesses, and live in Beijing. He hopes that everyone will have a broad perspective, uphold justice , and undertake significant endeavors with lofty aspirations. He encourages them torealize their life values when integrating into the development of the capital, showcasing the charm of the new era's Taiwanese youth in the process of Chinese modernization, and contributing youthful energy to national reunification and the great rejuvenation of the nation.

Huang Guoshu, Xu Yujie, Sun Zhiquan, Gu Liping, Wu Pengting, Tian Yongwei, and other six representatives of Taiwanese youth participants in Beijing delivered speeches. They expressed their commitment to fully leverage their strengths, gaining genuine knowledge and insights through practical experiences. They pledged to continually enhance and shape themselves with a strong sense of professionalism, responsibility, and initiative. Their aim is to actively contribute to the deepening and solidifying of cross-strait integrated development.

The attending leaders presented completion certificates to the participants of the 2023 Taiwan Youth Study Camp in Beijing.

Before the closing ceremony, Lin Shangli met with Yang Jinbai, and the two sides had in-depth discussions on establishing a platform for exchange and cooperation between youth on both sides of the strait and promoting peaceful development in cross-strait relations, which is expacted to rely on fully leveraging Beijing's advantages in Taiwan-related work and the educational strengths of Renmin University of China.

The three-day study camp, themed 'Promoting the Great Rejuvenation of the Chinese Nation through Chinese Modernization,' had 30 Taiwanese youth participants in Beijing in total. During the program, the participants attended engaging lectures by experts such as Li Huan, He Maochun, Dou Zhicheng, and Liu Shouying. They also visited the Xiong'an New Area Smart Experience Center, the Citizen Service Center, and the Baiyangdian Yanling Team Memorial Museum. Through these activities, the participants gained a clearer understanding of Taiwan-related policies, as well as a more comprehensive insight into the profound changes occurring in the new era of the motherland. This experience deepened their confidence and belief in jointly contributing to the long-term well-being of the Chinese nation and sharing in the glory of the great rejuvenation of the nation.
